Now that spring is here and the weather is clear, put away the blankets and DVDs of winter dates and head outdoors for some of these spring date ideas.

Spring means baseball season for sports fans, so score some great seats if you know your date has a love of the game or opt for cheaper seats and great conversation if your date isn’t that into paying attention to the field. Either way, you will have a great time getting to know each other better over food and drinks in an outdoor setting.

Festivals are abundant during the spring, from the major music festivals like Coachella and SXSW to local festivals that celebrate the surrounding area or customs. Look for food truck gatherings, movies in the parks and more festivals that make perfect date settings for both day and night.

Parks are great settings for dates on a budget (or if you are saving up for something special from Icing On The Ring). Goof around on a playground and feel like a kid again. Or go for a hike in the beautiful pristine setting of a national park. The Los Angeles area is filled with national parks, from Runyon Canyon to Griffith Park. Many parks have benches and are the perfect place to propose with a ring from Icing On The Ring.

Hit the beach. Whether you go to an exotic beach or a local hideaway, swimsuit season comes with the warm weather, so go for a handheld stroll next to the water or build a sandcastle. The water and waves and minimal-clothing-required make the perfect setting for romance.

Picnic. Bring along a lunch and suddenly your ordinary outing takes on some very special charm. Many parks have outdoor grills, so you can show off your secret barbeque recipe. Or pack some sandwiches and take a drive to somewhere you’ve never been before and eat along the way.

Movie nights are perfect for dates; you can talk about the film for hours afterward. With the new warm weather, try something new for movie night, find a drive-thru or hit up a public screening in downtown L.A. or a park or even a cemetery for a new twist on a classic date.

Whether you are just getting to know each other, or need to shake things up or even want the perfect venue to propose, there is no limit to the fun you can have on a spring date. At Icing On The Ring, you can find not only expert jewelers, but also experts on romance. Stop in for some ideas on where to pop the question and what ring best suits your future bride.

Spring has sprung, which means that summer wedding season is just around the corner. To make sure that your wedding is truly an affair to remember, get a head start on your summer wedding with these helpful tips and tricks of the trade:

Have a backup location. Although summer weddings are typically popular because they allow for outdoor events, Mother Nature can still have a quirky sense of humor on the big day. To ensure that nothing can rain on your parade, make sure that you have a backup plan for your location, i.e. the venue will allow you to move the party indoors or you have rented a tent as insurance against the weather.

Send out save-the-dates. Spring is the perfect time to send out save-the-dates before the official invitations. Save-the-dates are especially important for summer weddings because summer is when many people have conflicts with other activities, travel plans and even other weddings!

Consider your guests. It may be your special day, but your loved ones will still want to be comfortable as they help you celebrate. If the weather is hot, provide tiny water bottles, sunscreen, fans, bug repellent and any other cute touches to make sure that your guests stay happy.

Pick your flowers wisely. Summer weather can cause flowers to wilt more easily, especially boutonnières for the groom and groomsmen, as they are worn all day, kept close to the body, and suffer from plenty of hugs. Consult with your florist to choose flowers that won’t wilt easily, or consider a backup boutonnière to ensure that everything really does stay fresh as a daisy.

Choose your time wisely. Midday is usually too hot for a wedding; so later in the day is generally preferred so that the sun isn’t beating down at full force. If you are on a budget, you can also opt for a morning affair, complete with brunch.

Pick your rings. Some couples opt for matching rings, while others prefer to wear family heirlooms for the ceremony and choose their official wedding bands later. To learn more about your ring options, including choosing your style and how and when to order them, contact the professionals at Icing On The Ring.

Celebrity relationships are notoriously fickle, with some burning out in as quickly as a weekend. However there is still plenty of romance in Hollywood and many celebrities have been as lucky in love as they are in their careers. Here’s a look at some of the top celebrity engagements, although not every ring means a thing:

Keira Knightley is engaged to The Klaxons rocker James Righton and has the ring to prove it. When her beau proposed last year, Keira received a classic engagement ring: a platinum band with a brilliant solitaire diamond.

Kate Hudson has been engaged to Muse rocker Matt Bellamy for over a year, but there’s no telling when the couple will tie the knot. In the meantime, Kate has been sporting a platinum-set ring with an emerald-cut diamond and tapered baguettes on the sides.

Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux got engaged last year and are said to be tying the knot anytime now. For Jennifer’s lucky in love moment, Justin popped the question with a diamond ring estimated to weigh in around 8 karats.

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt also got engaged last year. Although they haven’t released an official date, it certainly seems serious with a ring that is rumored to consist of several emerald-cut diamonds weighing a combined total of 16 karats.

Olivia Wilde is engaged to actor Jason Sudeikis and although she plans on a long engagement, has become quite comfortable with sporting her stunning ring. The unique ring features a halo setting around a big round center stone and has a very thin band.

Christina Ricci admitted to getting engaged to James Heerdegen a few months back, after being photographed wearing a ring on her finger.

Miley Cyrus hasn’t been wearing her engagement ring the past couple of days, drawing tabloid attention. Her ring from fiancé Liam Hemsworth was amongst the priciest and most talked about when the couple announced their lucky-in-love moment. The ring features a vintage-cut stone and is surrounded by diamond floral designs.

Katy Perry may have divorced Russell Brand, but that doesn’t mean that there isn’t someone else ready to put a ring on it. For Valentine’s Day, John Mayer gave Katy a heart-shaped ring, but it’s not a traditional-looking engagement ring, so it may be nothing more than a sweet gesture. The yellow gold ring sports colored stones rather than a diamond.

For those looking to show off that they’ve been lucky in love, Icing On The Ring offers a large collection of engagement rings, and rings that just show you care. Whether you want something unique or something inspired by celebrity love, the experts at Icing On The Ring can help you find the perfect fit.

Valentine’s Day can present a problem when it comes to gift-giving. Luckily, Icing On The Ring has plenty of experience when it comes to Valentine’s Day gifts, for both him and her. Whether you’re just getting started in your relationship or have known each other for decades, we have plenty of small somethings that will be cherished for years to come.

For Him

Men often get overlooked when it comes to celebrating Valentine’s Day, so this year make sure he knows that you care by surprising him with a token of love.

Watches are always a great option for guys because they can be symbolic as well as useful. When he glances at his wrist, he’ll not only be reminded of your thoughtfulness, but also of all the time you’ve spent together, and the time yet to come.

For fashion-forward gentlemen, don’t overlook the idea of getting him jewelry. Icing On The Ring has necklaces and bracelets that have been designed especially for men, with masculine lines and metals. There are also cuff links, which make an elegant accent to any well-dressed outfit.

If you’re not sure of what your guy likes because your relationship is still new, consider something useful, but with an elegant twist, such as a pen set or a flask set.

For Her

When it comes to Valentine’s Day, nothing says you care like a small token of love. In the spirit of the holiday, try something with a heart. We have a variety of heart-shaped pendants available in prices that will fit every budget. From diamond-encrusted hearts to Zirconia options, Icing On The Ring has something that will make every woman fall in love.

If necklaces aren’t really her thing, consider a ring in rose gold or a pretty pink. We also have earrings and bracelets that can be perfect for the holiday, like our Silver Red Zirconia Heart Earrings or White Gold Garnet & Diamond Heart Earrings. You can also choose a bracelet or pair of earrings that can be worn any day of the year.

Whatever your lady love’s style, from classic to vintage or super modern, Icing On The Ring has gift options and rings, bracelets, necklaces and earrings that will make any woman happy to receive a small box on Valentine’s Day.

Can’t decide or don’t know what the special person in your life will like best? Call Icing On The Ring or stop by our showroom in the Los Angeles Jewelry District for expert advice.

If you want to skip the traditional chocolates this year, go ahead. There are plenty of other ways to celebrate Valentine’s Day, whether you are coupled up, single or getting together with friends.

Couples looking for something other than a prix fixe dinner on Valentine’s Day have plenty of options. Stay in and snuggle with your favorite foods and have a movie marathon. Or head to someplace you’ve never been before, like an art-gallery opening or try dinner and a play for a riff on a movie outing. Maybe even pretend to be an out-of-towner for the day and visit a local landmark and take a couples picture to mark the occasion.

For singles looking to meet other singles, check out local happenings. Some cities have gatherings to celebrate un-Valentine’s Day, while other parties look at the day to find love. You can also just get a group of friends together and head to your local watering hole for remembering past Valentine’s Days and commiserating about your current “singledom.” Or celebrate your solo status and buy yourself a Valentine’s Day present.

Whether you are planning a multi-couples date or a party with couples and singles, Valentine’s Day is a great excuse for a get-together. Divide up tasks like decorating and cooking and enjoy a stay-at-home date with your closest friends.

Volunteer. Not everyone has the chance to feel loved on Valentine’s Day. Forgo your usual celebrations and head to your local soup kitchen or nonprofit organization and give the gift of your time. Another good way to spread the love is to send flowers to your local senior center or home. Your thoughtfulness and generosity are sure to be appreciated and the warm memories you make will last longer than just the meal or lifespan of the bouquet.

Get together with your closest girlfriends and have a girls’ night in. Discover some Valentine’s Day DIY projects online and make something special that you exchange at the end of the night. Or get all glammed up and head to a fancy restaurant for some catching up and good food.

No matter how you choose to spend your Valentine’s Day, Icing On The Ring has the perfect accessory for staying in or going out. For more ideas, including finding the perfect Valentine’s Day gift for your host or hostess, call or stop by our store in the Los Angeles Jewelry District.

The New Year doesn’t just mark the start of a new calendar and a bunch of forgotten resolutions. For wedding industry insiders, the New Year is the start of a new quarter filled with wedding shows and the opportunity to give brides a look at new ways to celebrate lasting love.

Wedding shows give brides-to-be a look at some of the biggest players in the industry, from jewelry manufacturers, designers, watchmakers and more—basically everything you could ever hope to know about celebrating your lasting love. Some wedding shows are local and focus on vendors that can help you in your area, while some shows are huge extravaganzas that attract experts from all over the world. Icing On The Ring likes to walk the halls in both types of events, to make sure that every bride gets the chance to look her brightest come the big day.

Icing On The Ring will be at the upscale Unveiled—Bridal Style Revealed in Los Angeles on March 24. Unveiled has been named “the best of the West” by industry bible Martha Stewart Weddings and features “all things luxurious, stylish and chic in bridal!” While there, brides can stop by our booth to learn more about our April Tacori Blue Carpet Event.

Set to take place on April 13, 2013, the Icing On The Ring Tacori trunk show gives buyers a chance to view some of the beautiful, highly sought-after handcrafted Tacori rings. Special incentives and promotional financing will be available for this one-day event.  Decades of expertise have made Tacori a leader in fine jewelry, decorating countless stars as they parade down the red carpet or the wedding aisle.

As part of our devotion to finding the best possible producers, Icing On The Ring is also going to be in Las Vegas early June for the jewelry industry’s biggest trade-only show, The JCK Show, which attracts more than 2,500 participants from all over the world.

Hollywood movies may always have happy endings, with couples finding lasting love in innocuous settings from bookstores to subways. But in real life, lasting love seems to elude much of the Hollywood elite. However, we’ve rounded up a look at some of the rare Hollywood couples that have managed to find lasting love, despite the high turnover rates.

Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson have partnered together on many film and television projects, including Volunteers, Sleepless in Seattle, and That Thing You Do as well as My Big Fat Greek Wedding. Married since 1988, the couple seems to have found lasting love. Whether on or off-screen, the couple has a chemistry that works, thanks to their dedication to maintaining their private lives in the public eye.

Despite rock stars having notoriously busy schedules, Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale have been married since 2002, a rarity in the celebrity world. Although the couple has had their ups and downs, they still manage to stay together, despite constant rumors of their lasting love coming to an end.

Despite his reputation as a ladies’ man, Warren Beatty finally settled down with Annette Benning in 1991. The couple made their lasting love official in 1992 and have since gone on to have children.

Another celebrity couple that has been together since 1988 is Kyra Sedgwick and Kevin Bacon. Despite having different schedules that keep them apart for long periods of time, the couple are committed to making sure that lasting love is always a priority by compromising and putting their relationship first.

John Travolta and Kelly Preston have been weathering rumors of a breakup since 1991, when they first tied the knot. Despite the rumors and personal tragedies, John and Kelly seem to have found lasting love because, so far, nothing has managed to break them up.

In some cases, the secret to a famous couple having lasting love is because only half the couple is a celebrity. Like Bono & his wife Alison Hewson. The pair have been together since 1975, but only put a ring on it in 1982. The couple work on many projects together and Alison has become known in philanthropic circles for her devotion to various causes.

Then there’s Dolly Parton and her husband, Carl Dean. Although Dolly likes to stand out, with big hair and even bigger jewelry, her husband is a notorious recluse. The couple met at a Laundromat back in 1964, showing that you never know where lasting love will turn up.

While many celebrity couples decide to celebrate their lasting love with a supersized engagement ring, not every couple that is lucky enough to find lasting love can afford a big rock. At Icing On The Ring, couples can find a multitude of affordable engagement ring options and professional advice on picking the right one for them. Give us a call or stop by our expansive showroom in the Los Angeles Jewelry District to find the ring that completes your lasting love.

The New Year presents a new opportunity to find lasting love. If you’ve decided to put aside your college days of a different date for every night of the week and want to settle down, there are plenty of experts, of both sexes, that have advice on finding lasting love. Celebrating love is our specialty, so we’ve scoured the web for top-notch dating advice from experts who have studied lasting love.

If you think you’ve found the one, it doesn’t mean you have to stop looking. According to Rori Raye, author of best-selling eBook “Have The Relationship You Want,” keep your options open by accepting dates and discovering what you do and don’t want out of a relationship. When looking for lasting love, can it really last if you have to listen to someone slurp coffee every morning?

Whether you are in a relationship, or looking to start one, researchers have found that lasting love has several characteristics. Terri Orbuch, a psychologist and researcher at the University of Michigan’s Institute for Social Research who has been studying more than 370 couples since 1986, has illustrated them for eHarmony:

1. Have realistic expectations
2. Sweat the small stuff
3. Consider yourselves a team
4. Accentuate the positive
5. Remember the little things
6. Have strong friendships with both sexes
7. Spend time apart

Seth Meyers, Psy.D., is a clinical psychologist with the L.A. County Department of Mental Health who has appeared on nationally syndicated shows, including ABC’s “Good Morning America” and has published extensively on the subject of lasting love. According to the male relationship guru, here are some things to keep in mind while on your search for the perfect mate:

1. Don’t think to yourself that you’ve found “The One” until you’ve been together for more than several months.
2. Don’t bring the potential candidate for lasting love home to meet friends and family for at least a month—and only then if there are no red flags. If anything stands up and shouts crazy, it is probably a no-go.
3. Come up with a mantra to keep yourself focused on the big picture, rather than your newfound intimacy. Meyers suggests, “Focus on whether you like him, not whether he likes you,” or “If it’s meant to be, she’ll call; if not, I’ll have more energy to look for someone else.”

Once you’ve found your lasting love, you will probably want to commemorate the occasion with a ring symbolic of your relationship. At Icing On The Ring, there is a huge selection of rings to choose from, for every budget. Stop by our expansive showroom in the Los Angeles Jewelry District or give us a call for some guidance on finding the right ring to commemorate your lasting love.

While few things are constant in your wardrobe, thanks to seasonal changes, styles going out faster than they moved in, that pesky matter of weight fluctuations, one thing that will last forever, no matter what your hair color happens to be, is your engagement ring.

Finding lasting love is no easy task—you’ve probably kissed more than a few frogs on your way to finding your prince. Once you have found him, you will need the perfect accessory to make sure that your ring finger sparkles as brightly as your love—and matches your personal style.

Each couple is unique in their approach to engagement ring shopping. Many men end up floundering around before they find “the ring.” Other couples find that their lasting love has created an openness in the relationship and they are able to shop for rings together. With other couples, she wants to be surprised, but not “too surprised” so she drops hints. Hints can mean mentioning celebrity engagement rings that she admires or even sending her BFF ring shopping. Further subtle and not-so-subtle hints may include things like gawking at every nearby jewelry store or sighing over the romance of the season, which is generally any time from the holidays to Valentine’s Day. A more direct approach could be sending links to rings and engagement announcements or leaving magazines open to ring ads.

Once your man has taken the hint, be sure to know exactly what you want, whether it’s a classic white diamond solitaire that will go with your chinos and tennis dresses or a colored stone that will pop against the black that makes up most of your wardrobe. Be sure to consider all of your personal preferences when you hint around; if you’re very active you may not want stones that go all the way around the band because you may knock them out. If you tend to work with your hands, one large center stone may be unwieldy, so a more balanced 3-stone setting could be better. As far as cut and clarity, you can do your research on those, but an expert jeweler can demonstrate and explain what they mean and how you know what to look for.

When you start hunting around for the perfect engagement ring, remember that the ring is just a token to represent your lasting love, not necessarily a material possession that takes a lot of funding. There are plenty of beautiful and affordable rings available that will suit any couple’s finances. Because an engagement ring might not be the secret to lasting love, but it sure does accessorize it nicely.

We might not be able to help you find your true love, but we can help you find the perfect engagement ring. Stop by Icing On The Ring in the L.A. Jewelry District or feel free to give us a call for some advice. After all, like lasting love, diamonds are forever, so you want to make sure you make the perfect selection.
